Byrd From West Virginia

from California Country by I See Hawks in L.A.

/

about

Inspired by Jimmy Driftwood's history didactic songwriting, this is a bluegrass waltz about Senator Robert Byrd, whose career began in the Klan in the good old 1940s, but who redeemed himself with ever moderating views in a long Senate career, culminating in his principled rejection of Bush's Iraq invasion. A lone voice a-cryin, indeed.
